Barratt’s music draws upon his personal experiences of family and friendship, growing up in his hometown of Stockport. At the age of 19, Barratt underwent an emergency operation to save his life and found songwriting to be a cathartic release which helped him to process his innermost thoughts, feelings and emotions.
As a 22-year old singer-songwriter, Barratt’s sound draws upon a diverse mix of reference points, from his musical heroes Paul McCartney, Dave Grohl and Chris Martin, to the soundtracks of retro video games such as ‘The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time’, which inspired him to learn to play the piano.
Having recently graduated from his songwriting degree at Leeds College of Music, Barratt is working with producer Neil Claxton of electronic duo Mint Royale on his upcoming singles.
Barratt’s first release ‘Home’ is a love letter to his childhood, a feeling which is perfectly captured in the music video which shares sentimental home movie moments of his family life.
